Uniting Faith and Finance
The mission of Northwest Christian Credit Union is to build better lives and stronger ministries by uniting the Faith and Finance of the Christian Community.
We want to be the trusted financial partner in the Christian Community by promoting stewardship, empowering mission, and engaging resources for the Kingdom of God.
One of the ways NCCU is unique is in the type of commitments we make to our members. We value these relationships and the trust our members place in us. That's why we commit to the following:
The service we offer will focus on you, your needs, your questions, and your concerns.
We will provide genuine care and concern for you, your financial needs, and your spiritual walk.
Your resources will be safe and secure while being engaged in the Christian Community.
In all that we do, we will seek and honor God, knowing that pursuing Him is our highest calling.
We will speak the truth by valuing an honest dialogue, and offering insight and expertise in every conversation.
We deliver quality financial products and services by giving our best efforts on a daily basis, and leading the industry with innovative products.
We partner with our membership to further the Kingdom of God.
A few Christian doctors working at Samaritan Hospital (now the Fine Arts Building on the campus of NNU) in Nampa looked beyond the medical needs of their patients and began offering financial assistance. In 1954, they established the Nampa Fellowship Federal Credit Union in an office in the basement of the hospital.
As the Nampa Fellowship Federal Credit Union outgrew the space in the basement of Samaritan Hospital and was moved down the street to the front porch of the credit union manager's home.
Over the next 14 years, the credit union's assets grew to over $900,000.00. More space was needed. In 1971, two lots were purchased at 507 Holly Street in Nampa and a new facility was built. Once moved into its new building, the credit union saw rapid growth as assets nearly doubled over the next year.
In 1975, the credit union changed its name to Nazarene of Nampa Federal Credit Union and expanded its field of membership to include the Intermountain District Church of the Nazarene and NNC students and alumni.
1980’s & 1990’s
Throughout the next two decades the credit union added share draft checking accounts, Money Market Accounts, IRAs and several other convenient banking services.
In 1999, the organization changed its name to Nazarene Financial Credit Union. The credit union also converted from its federal charter to a state charter and from federal insurance to private insurance. In the process the credit union expanded its field of membership to include Nazarenes throughout the nation.
With $19 million in assets, it constructed a 5300 square foot facility located at 716 E Colorado. The credit union moved into its new facility in November of 2001.
In September 2004, we became Northwest Christian Credit Union. The credit union expanded its membership to allow an even greater number of Christians to participate in the credit union. Other schools, churches and ministry organizations common in matters of faith became eligible for membership.
Northwest Christian Credit Union established its first branch location in Boise. The credit union continued to expand its church lending activities in the Treasure Valley and throughout the region. Through shared branching, the credit union now offers over 5000 branch service centers for members nationwide.
Over the last decade, Northwest Christian Credit Union has continued to expand – adding members in Wyoming, lending to more and more churches and ministries in the Northwest and providing online and mobile banking services.
